Biography
Lucy Pawlak
Lucy divides herself between working on a single solo project and working on multiple and varied collaborations. In collaborating Pawlak aims towards seeking out varied and unpredictable points of departure for working with others. Collaborations take the form of delving into the workings of groups of people, from the relationship between a pair of lovers to the dynamics of a section of society, an organization, a gang, a community or an entire city.
Running through Pawlak's body of work is an interrogation of social relations. Her art is trivial and involved in looking at everyday structures and patterns. The Patterns and structures do not change much over time, they are defended violently and seep across generations.
Pawlak has lived in Poland for the past two years where she has been studying cinematography at the Polish National Film school in Lodz, prior to that she studied Graphic Design for her BA before moving on to study painting at the Royal College of Art. She is now based in London.
She is represented by Domobaal, London and has exhibited in solo and group exhibitions internationally.
Adam James
Adam's work moves between the live and the restaged. His performance and film based work has its roots in masquerade and role-play and draws inspiration from early Dadaism. His Live work often uses the vehicle of collaboration, roping in the public when possible, willing or unwilling. In his films he explores real and fictional moments, in attempts to deconstruct encounters with overlooked characters his slapstick films raise questions of the artists role as voyeur and the audiences role as a spectator. Having graduated from the Royal College of Art in 2007 with an MA in Fine Art Adam has gone on to teach Live Arts and Digitial Media at Kingston University.
Adam graduated from the MA Printmaking at RCA in 2007. Since then he has exhibited internationally, recent exhibitions include: Late at Tate with !WOWWOW! and Plastique Fantastique, GSK Contemporary at the RCA, and a performance as part of 'Miastra please sin' at the Romanian Cultural institute with boyleANDshaw in London.
